Vacation: Day Three

Today was an amazing yet exhausting day. Laura and I took the Metro into the heart of Washington D.C. Our first stop was the National Archives where we were able to see the original Declaraction of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. I especially enjoyed being able to see the original signature of my ancestor Roger Sherman.

Next we headed to the Smithsonian's National Art Gallery to see a special display of artwork by the famous painter Norman Rockwell that belong to the personal collections of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. The paintings are amazing. I loved the detail he used in his paintings and the emotions evoked of what America was all about.

Next Laura and I went to Chinatown and had dinner. The menu included Sauteed Frog with Chives. I decided to stay safe and ordered the Pepper Chicken.

We decided to jump on the metro and then walked to the Jefferson Memorial. This was an adventure because the map we had wasn't the best and it took us a few detours to find the right way to get there. This was a neat experience for me as I have never been there before.

It was so hot that Laura needed to rest while we were there!

Next we went to the FDR Memorial where I had my picture taken with Eleanor Roosevelt's statue.

After more of a walk and some frozen lemonade we made it to the Lincoln Memorial. Personally I feel he was one of the greatest contributors to our history that made it possible for us to live in such a great nation.

This is the view from the Lincoln Memorial.

Next we visited the World War 2 Memorial and had to show some love to Utah!

Next we visited a couple of the Smithsonian Museum's before catching the Metro home. Laura and I were utterly exhausted and extremely sweaty! We both had to take refreshing showers after we got home and get some clean and dry clothing. Laura has already hit the hey and I am heading there myself. Even though I am exhausted it was an amazing day and I am so grateful for the experiences I had.
